Calories in Chinese Food
Advice About Calorie Content and Caloric Values for Chinese Food

Calories in Chinese Food

  • Most Chinese food is high in calories and very high in fat. Up to 70-80 per cent of its calories come from fat. To reduce calories when eating Chinese foods, follow these tips:

  • Choose mostly vegetable foods.
These are usually lower in fat and calories.

  • Choose boiled/steamed rice, NOT fried rice.
This alone can cut calories by 50 per cent.

  • Watch your portion size.
The bigger the portion, the higher the calories (and fat).

  • Do not be tempted by high-calorie extras like fried noodles or spring rolls.

  • When in doubt, order soup, a vegetable main course with steamed rice and of course tea!

  • This way you can enjoy Chinese food without wearing the calories on your butt.
